Personal Profile

Dato’ Sri Gan Hwa Soon is the Managing Director of SHH Group of Companies (Sin Huat Hin Group). At the heart of the Group is Kilang Isi Sawit Sin Huat Hin Sdn. Bhd., supported by a network of more than 20 subsidiaries and affiliated companies, including Sinn Hwat Heng Edible Oils Sdn. Bhd., SHH Oil Mill Sdn. Bhd., and Sin Huat Hin Palm Oil Mill (Kuala Selangor) Sdn. Bhd.

In 2026, the Group further strengthened its business portfolio through the successful acquisition of Lean Heng Copra & Cocoa Sdn. Bhd., marking another significant milestone in its corporate development.

Beyond his business achievements, Dato’ Sri Gan is deeply committed to community service and education. He currently serves as Chairman of the Building Committee and Permanent Adviser to the Board of Directors of Kapar Ying Wah Primary School, where he is widely respected as the Father of Ying Wah’s Development.

A Happy Family, His Strongest Support

Dato’ Sri Gan married in 1995 and has since shared a life of mutual support and companionship with his wife. Together, they have raised two sons and three daughters, building a loving and close-knit family.

The warmth, encouragement and unwavering support of his family have served as a strong foundation throughout his entrepreneurial journey and his longstanding commitment to charitable and community initiatives.

From Humble Beginnings to a Leading Palm Kernel Oil Entrepreneur

At the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey, Dato’ Sri Gan relied on determination, perseverance and a willingness to take on challenges to build his business independently. Starting from a modest office, he was personally involved in almost every aspect of operations, from handling daily business matters to participating directly in goods transportation and manufacturing activities.

With keen commercial insight, he recognised the vast potential of palm kernel oil in the food processing and everyday consumer products industries. He subsequently championed automation, equipment upgrades and production improvements to enhance operational efficiency and expand manufacturing capacity.

From an initial production volume of approximately 30 to 50 metric tonnes per month, the business grew substantially to exceed 2,000 metric tonnes per month, establishing a modern, large-scale manufacturing operation with an annual crude palm kernel oil production capacity of approximately 30,000 metric tonnes.

His journey reflects the values of entrepreneurship, continuous improvement and a long-term commitment to building a sustainable and competitive business.

Integrity, Practicality and Commitment to Business Promises

Throughout his career, Dato’ Sri Gan has remained steadfast in his business philosophy: “Uphold credibility, remain practical and truthful, honour every promise, and deliver on every commitment.”

In the face of industry challenges, including reduced raw material availability caused by abnormal weather conditions, he has consistently emphasised prudent management, careful resource allocation and operational discipline.

Rather than compromising on commitments, he prioritises fulfilling delivery obligations to customers through responsible planning and efficient coordination. This consistent approach has helped him establish enduring relationships with business partners and customers, earning their trust and confidence over the years.

His commitment to integrity and reliability remains a cornerstone of the Group’s business philosophy.

Championing Education: The “Father of Ying Wah’s Development”

Despite his success in business, Dato’ Sri Gan has never forgotten the importance of giving back to society. He has devoted considerable time, resources and personal effort to supporting education and community development, becoming one of the most important benefactors and pillars of Kapar Ying Wah Primary School.

Since taking on the role of Chairman of the Building Committee in 2008 and subsequently serving as Permanent Adviser to the Board of Directors, he has consistently supported the school’s infrastructure, educational facilities and student welfare.
